Kipelie (Boiling) springs have always been popular with the local people of Kamchatka river valley. But the entrance to the springs was banned since 1992 when Lazovsky district of Kronotsky reserve was organized as the springs are situated on that territory.
This winter a new route has been developed. A bridge across Levaya River and a refuge near springs have been reconstructed. The wooden house is much warmer now; it has a gas cooker and kitchen utensil, 8 bed places. The springs are situated on the left bank of Levaya Shapina River. There are two reservoirs cut out in travertine stone. Water aerates intensively and it looks as if it were boiling (hence the name), but its temperature is only 35-40 degrees Cent.
Views from the springs are astonishing in any season. There is an active volcano (Kizimen) 14 km to the east from the springs. It attracts attention with its regular pointed top of clinker and steaming mofettes.
Inhabitants of Lazo and Taezhny villages can access the rout free of charge.
