Wild taiga - Central Forest Reserve

Central Forest Biosphere reserve is one of the oldest reserves in Russia. It is situated in south taiga primary forests. These forests keep their initial appearance and form close ecological association with present landscapes.

There you will go through dense fairy-tale forests and along ecological trails. You will learn about nature features of southern taiga, observe birds and animals, visit bears breeding centre. At your leisure time you can ride, pick up mushrooms or go to sauna.

Itinerary:

1 Day. Friday

20:08 Departure from Rijsky railway station.

2 Day. Saturday

03:00 Arrival to Nelidovo train station . Transfer to the reserve, check-in, rest.
9:00 – 10:00 Breakfast.
10:00 - 14:00 Walk to Krasny Stan tract, where you can see rare and non specific plants of the southern taiga climate zone / or walk to the Starosel’sky Mokh wetlands (approximately 10 km). Following the tracks of forest inhabitants. History of the reserve.
14:00 – 15:00 Lunch.
15:00 – 18:00 Visit-center of the reserve, history and activities of the protected area. Visit to Nature museum. Learn about flora, fauna and landscape features of these territories. Photos and videofilms about the reserve.
19:00 – 20:00 Dinner.
Free time, banya (Russian wet steam sauna)

3 Day. Sunday

9:00 - 10:00 Breakfast
10:00 – 14:00 Visit Microclimatic stations. Various microclimatic observations are held there and registered in a data base. The data is used for preparing special part of nature chronicles based on long-term data analysis.
14:00 – 15:00 Lunch
18:00-19:00 Return to the hotel, free time, discussions with reserve’s staff, riding (optionally), souvenirs.
19:00-22:00 Dinner. Free time.
23:47Departure to Moscow.
