Students field work

02.08.2006

has finished in Kenozersky National Park

Ecological Travel Centre and Kenozersky National Park have organized students’ field work in Kargopolsky sector of the park. The main objective of the journey was to survey ecotourists that visit the protected area.
The analysis of the questionnaires would help to understand whether tourists are satisfied with the tour in general and with particular services offered by the park and the locals. It would also reveal what other services are demanded.

During the trip the students visited Kargopol regional museum and museum of samovar, climbed the bell tower to see the panorama of the ancient town, its churches and Onega river.
In the park the students walked “Ant hills trail”. It is very particular not only because of great number of ant hills, but also because of rare plants, bilberries and small chapels.
We have also visited abandoned village – Maselga, where children ecological camp is situated now.
Students have surveyed tourists in Morshikhinskaya and Maselga villages, in camps on the lakesides. Generally the tourists are Arkhangelsky and Moscow regions residents, there were some travelers from Moscow and Saint-Petersburg and a group of tourists from Holland. Later we will publish the analysis of the questionnaires.

We would like to thank Nadezhda Podoplekina (deputy director of the park on ecological education and ecotourism) for the accommodation and excursions granted.
We also thank all those students who participated in the works: Zhenia Filimonova, Galo and Sebastian Fernandez, Lena Salnikova and Pavel Zaitsev.

If you wish to visit these places yourself we invite you to “Lekshmozerie – the region of lakes” tour.
