Primorie and Northern China

Region: Far East

We offer you a fascinating tour to Vladivostok – a city, situated at the interface of 2 environments - the largest Continent (Eurasia) and the largest Ocean (the Pacific), and to Chanbaishan’ highland located between China and Korea. The highland is crowned by majestic cone of the active Baitoushan volcano.
The name “Vladivostok” itself meaning “the Sovereign of the East” speaks about its special status.  It was founded as a port, and it has remained a port – the ice-free largest on the whole Pacific coast of Russia. Windswept, running along eaves towards the sky, Vladivostok reminds a shell chaplet from a bird’s-eye view. Some multicolored “beads” have trickled straight to the sea – islands of Empress Eugenia (Russky, Popova, Ricorda, Reineke) and some other rocky land shatters with vociferous birdy spots are within the limits of the city.
On Vladivostok and Primorye flags one can find a tiger – the host of Ussury taiga, which is equal in the glory with Asiatic ginseng. Vladivostok citizens know the legend about Blue trepang, which inhabits the bay and brings happiness to everybody who will be able to catch sight of it. You start believe in it when the shades of evening fall to plain Soviet buildings of the town.  The beauty of night Vladivostok charms you when city lights on steep mountains are fractionized by myriads of stars in the ice-free bay called Golden Horn. This glamorous view of the bay can be seen from the cable car ground in the city center.

Chanbaishan’ highland is the spiritual beauty of nature, untouched by human being. It will help you to recover poise and relax from the city noise and vanity. Mountains of Chanbaishan’ with their splendid landscapes are covered by primeval forests. Caldera of Baytoshuan volcano forms 16 mountain peaks that belt mystic and holy Tyan’chi Lake (Heavenly backwater) like a necklace. It is located at the height of 2300 meters above sea level, 3 greatest rivers of Northern-East China - Yalutzyan, Tumen’tzyan and Sunhuatzyan originate here.
Erdaobayhe river, effluent from the lake, falls as a 69-meter cascade to the picturesque valley, where hot springs (up to 86 C) spout just from stones. Almost two-kilometer long stone gallery starts from here, which leads up to the shore of high-mountain lake. This region has been announced the international biosphere reserve in 1979.
