You have a unique opportunity to visit the “Chisty Les” research station which is independent department of Central-Forest reserve. V.S. Pazhetnov, the founder of the station and outstanding Russian ecologist devoted the whole his live to investigation of brown bear species. You will get to know many interesting facts about brown bears and wolves. You will research plant species and associations, birds and animals that is indicative for South taiga climatic zone. What for has the nature created peat bogs and how is our live related to them? Come and discover!

Itinerary:

1 Day

20:09 Departure from Rijsky railway station by the train Moscow - Velikie Luki.

2 Day

4:50 Arrival to Staraya Toropa. Transfer to mini-hotel "Vrevo" situated on the border of Tver' and Novgorod regions on a lake bank in a forest.
7:00 Check-in, rest.
9:00 Breakfast.
Free time. You can walk around, go boating or fishing. Different sport activities are avaliable here: badminton, football, volleyball. Biathlon field is situated not far from here.
14:00 Lunch
You can go to optional excursion to Vorontsov monastery.
20:00 Dinner.
Sauna (optional).

3 Day

8:30 Breakfast
9:00 Go to research station "Chisty Les".
10:00 Introductory lection about scientific activity of research station. You will get to know about basic scientific works of station staff and International Rehabilitation Center for animal protection. You’ll see unique filmings dedicated to nurturance of bear cubs in artificial conditions.
11:30 Ecotrek around station. You will get to know about character vegetative associations in South taiga climatic zone, birds and animals
The territory is very interesting both in nature treasure and historical significance. You will see archaeological spots: ancient settlements and burial mounds dated 10-13 centuries. During this trek you will research plant associations, waterfowl species, beaver lodges and many others.
15:00 Lunch.
15:30 Acquaintance with Vladimir Bologov - research assistant of Biostation. He have researched wolves for many years. Talk with Bologov, lection and filmings about wolves.
Transfer to Toropets. Excursion around the town: site of ancient settlement, merchant houses, monument to a ticher, Korsunsko-Bogoroditsky cathedral, Kazanskaya church (one of the oldest buildings of Toropets)
21:00 Dinner. Transfer to Staraya Toropa.
22:18 Departure to Moscow by the train Velikie-Luki - Moscow.
